Self-Care
As I was starting this blog, I was given some bad news. I was in shock when I hear them and I still am.
This week’s blog is about selfcare. What a huge reminder that we need to prioritize the most important person in our life … us.
We are constantly running around, and with a hectic schedule the first thing that goes out the window is us, our priorities, our selfcare and everything that is dealing with us.
I am sure we all have heard the saying, you can’t pour from an empty cup, and Oh God today was a big reminder for me.
Us, as women we put everyone first, but we need to realize that we matter too. Our family needs us, and this applies whether you have kids or not, you family needs you, healthy, present.
We all have ways of taking care of ourselves, start small, one day at a time one thing at a time. Small steps can make a big difference. Take time to exercise, if you don’t want to go to gym, then go on daily walks. Eat healthy, stay hydrated. These are things that we all know we should be doing, but we always procrastinate or don’t give them the importance they deserve.
Self-care comes in many forms, do what makes your feel good, spending time alone to clear your thoughts, putting yourself first, setting boundaries. Believe it or not staying away from negative people is a way of self-care.
In my case I enjoy having some alone and quiet time and pampering myself with manicures/pedicures or a massage. As well as exercising, although I don’t do it as often as I would like.
One thing that has helped me to stay consistent is to put my selfcare routine in my calendar, I make it a priority and is not an option. Manicures, pedicures, massage, anything that requires an appointment, I put it in there, and it becomes part of my monthly task.
The month of July was dedicated to self-care. This week we will release some forms of self-care items that we hope you all enjoy.
Don’t forget small steps make a big difference and to take care of your loved ones, you need to first take care of yourself.
